Nguyễn Huệ Street, the center of Vạn Thịnh Phát’s crippled empire

On to the news.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the vast scale of Vạn Thịnh Phát’s alleged bond fraud after officials provided an update on the investigation into the group that has lasted more than a year.

To quote me: “As the blockbuster Vạn Thịnh Phát Group investigation rumbles on, police announced that about 42,000 investors lost US$1.2 billion through bond fraud carried out by the company.”

It’s still unclear when this case will go to trial, but it’s worth discussing other recent VTP-related developments as they show how sprawling the corporation’s reach is.
